The Department of Medicinal Chemistry took part in the work of the PHARM CAMP NUPh-2021 «Pharmacy is the science about medicinal drugs and not only!» organized for pupils. Ilya Podolsky, Associate Professor of the department, delivered the online lecture “Medicinal drugs as chemical compounds” for future enrollees, parents and teachers.
During the lecture multidisciplinary explanation of the processes underlying the biological action of medicinal drugs was given. The basic principles and general mechanisms of action of drugs in a human body were explained. And, vice verse, how a human body able to chemically modify the molecules of xenobiotics (drugs, food so on)? Thus, the metabolism of drugs was discussed as well.

This year ends with another good news. Assist. Olena Bevz, together with PhD student Lyubov Bodnar under the guidance of assoc. professor of Department of Pharmacy Technology of Medicines Tatiana Kovaleva took part in the XIV Kharkiv regional competition of student research papers. The presented work “Development of technology and research of gel patches for the correction of age-related skin changes” took 3rd place. Congratulations to the winners! Next year we wish everyone new interesting ideas, inspiration and opportunities for their implementation !!!

The scientific on-line seminar “Birth, development and formation of DNA science” took place in NUPh. The event was organized by the Department of Biological Chemistry and was dedicated to the anniversary of the discovery of the DNA molecule.
On April 25, the world annually celebrates an unusual holiday – International DNA Day, which recognizes the importance of genetics and scientific advances in this field. This date reminds us that on April 25, 1953, in the journal «Nature», scientists James Watson and Francis Crick, along with Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin, published the results of a study of the structure of the DNA molecule. It is in DNA that our genetic information is stored, and this test is one of the most popular for establishing family ties. The discovery of the DNA helix was revolutionary for science. Thanks to DNA, the code of heredity was revealed, genetic risk was identified, the formation of programmed properties of the organism was started, heredity was improved, and genetic engineering technologies were created.
The event aimed to promote world research among students – our future scientists. The reports were presented in three languages (national, English and Russian). The reports covered the history and discovery of DNA, the stages of formation of genetic science, the development of DNA vaccines, etc. 3rd year students of the 15th group (Kedruss Abdallah, Abiui Jaafar, Shaba Fatima Ezzahra) and assoc. professor of medical chemistry Titko T.O. joined the event.

Thanks to modern technologies, all departments, all universities, from East to West, from North to South, teaching pharmaceutical chemistry “met” to discuss changes in the structure of the test exam KROK-2 with discipline “pharmaceutical chemistry” in connection with the change of the program of the discipline, updating and updating the content of issues, as well as to share experiences. The meeting was productive and informative.

Assoc. prof. Titko T.O. won a gift from Bayer for the correct answers during the professional survey.

Skills development at the time of quarantine.
On April 21, 2020, the Medexpert group of companies was organized an online seminar “Professional development of a pharmacist during a pandemic.”
The staff of the Department of Medical Chemistry (Prof. L. Perehoda, as. O. Bevz ) during this seminar, improved their skills in providing effective and safe symptomatic therapy by a pharmacist to patients with respiratory diseases, complaints of acute pain and allergies, recommendations for the prevention of psychological burnout under conditions of increased nervous loads during quarantine are given.
According to the results of the online seminar tests were successfully passed and certificates were received.
Remember! Quarantine is an opportunity to upgrade knowledge and improve yourself!

Within the framework of forming healthy lifestyle of students, a lecture “The Sport is Hormone of Happiness” was held. Hormones of happiness are three types of hormones: dopamine, serotonin and endorphins. They are all produced in our body and depend on our lifestyle, distribution of physical and mental activity, nutrition and health. All of them are interrelated and give a state of happiness, joy, satisfaction. To properly produce of these hormones it is desirable to adhere to an adequate physical activity, daily regime, have a lots of walking outdoors, sex (getting pleasure), eating rationally, having a hobby and pursuing a favorite business. So, love sports, be healthy and happy.

The CHEMICAL BATTLE intellectual show was dedicated to two November events that are International Science Day and International Student Day.
The event was held by the Educational Research Institute of Applied Pharmacy. The teams of students, graduate students, and lecturers have participated in this intellectual competition. The “Aspirators” team has become the winner of the fierce battle! The winners team consisted of first-year graduate students, including graduate student of the Medicinal Chemistry Department, Anton Semenets. A working meeting “Features of the organization of industrial practice of full-time students of specialty 226 “Pharmacy” of NUPh in 2019-2020 years» was held at our University under the supervision of Vice-Rector for scientific and pedagogical (educative) work, Professor Krutskih T. V. The participants of the meeting were representatives of the bases of practice and teaching staff of the departments that graduate the students, including the lecturers of the Medicinal Chemistry Department, namely, Associate Professor Natalia Kobzar and Assistant Olena Bevz that are responsible persons for practice organization at our department.
We are taking care that our students receive not only good theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills necessary for their future work, because today`s students are the future of our pharmacy!!!

On 27 October a friendly meeting of teaching staff of the Medicinal Chemistry Department and graduate of NUPh 1992 year, Abdo Fatiha, was held as a part of the visit of the Moroccan delegation of graduated students to Ukraine and Alma Mater in particular.
During the interview, Abdo Fatiha told about her professional work as a head of pharmacy in Casablanca, emphasizing the importance of professional education for a pharmacist work. It was interesting to hear about the successes and challenges of pharmaceutical education in Morocco. Abdo Fatiha gratefully recalled her years of study in Kharkiv, shared her enthusiasm of the positive changes in NUPh, in our city and in the country in general, and promised to spread the positive image of our University in Morocco.
